Why Learn New Languages

It is important to learn a new language for many reasons. For one thing it is a great skill in a globalized world. It will give you an extra edge when competing for a job. These are a few good reasons for learning new languages but by no means what I would consider the most important. I like to learn new languages because it expands my mind opening up new worlds with new people and a whole new way to view life. There was a time when people lived their whole live in one neighborhood and never even left their town. Now with advances in modern technology you can go to a new land with new people. When you speak their language and they understand what you have said it is an amazing experience. When they speak to you and you understand what they say in this new language you have opened up your mind and world. You are not longer a resident of a community. You are a citizen of the world.
